During the 57th General Meeting of the International Salvage Union in September 2011 in Colombia, Mr. Andreas A. Tsavliris was formally certified as the new President of the ISU. Mr. Tsavliris has been on the ISU Executive Committee since 2006.
Following his election Mr. Tsavliris spoke the following words “It is a great honour for myself, my company and Greece and I am very proud having been elected President of the International Salvage Union. I thank everyone for entrusting me in this prestigious position. As a company we have been a member and committed to the ISU for many years, and I promise to protect, support and uphold our ideals, and will always try my hardest to ensure the best interests of the ISU”.
Mr. Tsavliris is a Principals of TSAVLIRIS SALVAGE GROUP, a company whose roots and background go way back to the mind 1920s. Following closely in his father’s footsteps, Alexander G. Tsavliris, he joined the company in 1970 and ever since has been committed to maintaining a modern, global network through the strategic stationing of the groups own salvage assets, as well as friendly cooperation with regional and international salvage companies.
Tsavliris Salvage is one of the last professional salvors to maintain salvage tugs on station in strategic locations and is dedicated to saving life and property at sea and to protecting the marine environment from accident-related pollution. Thanks to a vigorous policy of modernisation, Tsavliris are now better equipped to cope with today’s larger and more complex vessels, as well as with the threat of pollution, which has imposed new demands on salvors.
